A good day

November 4, 2008 at 7:27 pm (NaBloPoMo, things I love) (, )

Great things happened today:

I worked in the Pharmacy, which i love.

I PASSED my Driver’s license test.  I know, i have lived in MN again for quite awhile, but i failed the first time and was super nervous.  I am all officially Minnesotan again.

I got a new, to me, cell phone.  I killed my phone last summer, have been using my mom’s old phone, but that is dying real quick, and so i mentioned it to someone I worked with.  Her daughter had an extra, and sold it to me for $20. Whoo Hoo!  maybe i can now have a longer conversation than 20 min on my phone.

I voted.  and that is always exciting.

Now, i am going to eat dinner….yummy.

Election Day

November 3, 2008 at 5:14 pm (Life, NaBloPoMo) (, )

Tomorrow is Election Day.  You are going to go vote right?  You better be.  I have made no secret about who i am voting for, and if you can’t tell, ask me, i’ll tell you who and why.

All I ask is that you do your best to be an informed voter.  Please don’t vote on just one issue.  Vote for the person that best represents what you want for yourself and your country on all the issues.

If you are happy with how the last 8 years have gone, then you know who you are going to vote for.  If you are happy with the current state of the economy, a long war, high gas prices, and the state of education in our country, then vote for it to stay the same.

If you are like me, and fed up with all of these things, then vote for change.  Now, realistically, will all of these things change?  Probably not.  But for me, my priorities for this country are education, the economy and health care. 3 issues that the future administration will have to tackle, and that I hope by voting for change will turn around.

Thank you for getting out your vote.  It does matter.  Not registered to vote yet?  in the state of MN, you can register the day of at your polling place with an ID with your current address.

Lack of Motivation, Christmas Music, and more

November 2, 2008 at 1:28 pm (blogging, Life, NaBloPoMo, reflections) (, , )

I really did not want to go to work yesterday, hence the title, lack of motivation.  But actually, I was motivated.  To do stuff at home.  I wanted to stay home, update my Ravelry Projects, cast on a shawl, do laundry, etc, etc.  But, i had to go to work.  So today, I don’t have to go to work, but i don’t have that same motivation.  crap.

So yesterday once i went to work, i noticed something that I was quite annoyed with.  CHRISTMAS MUSIC.  on Nov 1.  ugh.  Yes, i have an aunt who listens to Christmas music in July, but not me.  I am going to be VERY tired of it once Christmas actually rolls around.

I went to church today for the first time in a long time.  So, i should be good until Christmas now, right?  It is hard, since that used to be a central point in my life, and isn’t anymore.  I don’t if it is the church, or just the whole thing. Being there makes me kind of irritated, and then i am irritated at myself for being irritated with church, and it is a whole vicious cycle, and I leave, really not getting anything out of the whole experience.  I feel as if my day would have been better served by me staying at home.  Things to ponder I guess.

Off to find that motivation….

Halloween ’08

October 31, 2008 at 8:33 pm (Life, things I love) (, )

I went all ’80s inspired, made my own sweatshirt.  I forgot how fun neon puff paint can be!  But, it will take me awhile to get all of the hairspray out of my hair.  but overall, a success!  Here is me with my favorite duck.

Rock Band Live

October 27, 2008 at 12:59 pm (things I love) (, , , , , )

I have been away, I know.  But i have been doing fun things, and not even at home.  Seriously, you should SEE my DVR queue! And my cats feel very neglected. I went on a little trip to the Twin Cities, and I started a new position at work, I am going to be working in the pharmacy 2 days a week, and so far, i love it.

I have been looking forward to the Rock Band Live Concert since July, When i got the word that my FAVORITE band in the whole wide world, Dashboard Confessional was going to be there.  Seriously, like everytime i talked about it, my voice got all high and squealy and excited-like.  Well, I convinced two of my friends to go with me, and warned them about my super-fan-ness.

We drove down to the Target Center early, parked, and then went to Applebees so i could have a Perfect Margarita, oh yeah, and have dinner.  so we had dinner, a couple of drinks, and went to the Target Center to Rock out all night long.  We were general admission, and I was super excited to see how close to the stage we were able to be.

First band up was The Cab. This was the only band of the night that i have never heard of, and i promptly fell in love.  We were listening to these guys, and they were REALLY good.  So we were rocking out, and going, that one is really cute, and that one is hot.  Really, they all were cute.  And then they said they were 19.  Oh well, they still are cute, and really good, and I encourage you all to check them out. i searched three Targets on the way home the next day to get their CD, Whisper War.

Next up was the Plain White Ts (i couldn’t get their site to work, so this is a fan site.)  Yes you have heard of them, it is them of Hey There Deliah Fame.  and if you haven’t heard that song this past summer, you have either been living under a rock or only listening to country music.  They were so much fun,  put on a great show, and again, another CD i must purchase.  I got Big Bad World, but need to get their first one.  This video is from the concert, i did not take it, i didn’t have my camera until after Plain White T’s.  It is 1,2,3,4 from their new CD.  Remember, I WAS THERE!

Next, was what I had waited the whole night, no, actually months for.  DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL, and my “boyfriend” Chris Carrabba.  I screamed my lungs out, wished the set would have been longer, and loved every minute of it.  They had a great mix of new and old songs, though i would have really like to have heard “Where there’s Gold.”  One of the funniest and coolest parts of the set was when they brought out the Cab and Plain White Ts (remember, I now love them too.) and they played Pink’s “So What.”  So much fun. I got some pretty good pictures at the beginning of the set, i got too involved as the set went on.  I took a video, but I am not happy with the sound quality. So i won’t post that.

To close the show, Panic at the Disco.  I was most impressed by the lead singer, Brendon Urie.  He was fantastic and played guitar, drums, and keys. Pictures:

So, I was needless to say I was on a fantastic emotional high, and really, would go again in a second.  In fact, plans are in the works to go see The Cab and Plain White T’s in November.  The rest of the pics will soon be up on my Facebook.

So, do you have a favorite concert expirence?  A new band to introduce me to?

This video really struck a chord with me.  Are you registered to vote?  remember this is likely one of the most important elections of our time.  It is VERY likely that the next President will be appointing a member of the Supreme Court, which means the current balance of the court could stay the same or become more conservative.  Register, and Vote.  Every state has different registration guidelines.  Visit DeclareYourself.com.  That’s where I registered and you should too!

a vent

September 26, 2008 at 7:46 pm (Life)

I have not had any great blogging thoughts this week.  it has been a loooooong week.  I am exhausted, and have been on the verge of tears all day.  actually, all week.  and i am a crier, but this is ridiculous.

Sunday, I went into work on my day off because 17 PEOPLE CALLED IN!!!  So, i got some overtime, great, but it did make a 7 day stretch into an 8 day one, and i am just not very good at either of those.

Monday, on my way into work, my car broke.  something with the fuel system.  oh yeah, i need this right now.

Tuesday/Wednesday, the car i was driving instead, my mom’s old van, broke.  starter went out.  great.

Thursday, i got my dad’s wife’s car, which i may never give back, while they are out of town for the weekend.

Thursday/Friday/Today: I am calf-sitting this weekend.  and one won’t eat, and is really sick.  yeah, my brother got the phone call with me crying.  I honestly don’t know that the calf will be alive tomorrow morning, and i know, it is part of farm life, i was raised with it, but it still makes me really sad.

So, maybe in a couple of days i will have some great blogging thoughts, but i still have 2 days of work and calf-sitting.

thanks for listening to me rant, i needed it.
