Lack of Motivation, Christmas Music, and more

November 2, 2008 at 1:28 pm (blogging, Life, NaBloPoMo, reflections) (, , )

I really did not want to go to work yesterday, hence the title, lack of motivation.  But actually, I was motivated.  To do stuff at home.  I wanted to stay home, update my Ravelry Projects, cast on a shawl, do laundry, etc, etc.  But, i had to go to work.  So today, I don’t have to go to work, but i don’t have that same motivation.  crap.

So yesterday once i went to work, i noticed something that I was quite annoyed with.  CHRISTMAS MUSIC.  on Nov 1.  ugh.  Yes, i have an aunt who listens to Christmas music in July, but not me.  I am going to be VERY tired of it once Christmas actually rolls around.

I went to church today for the first time in a long time.  So, i should be good until Christmas now, right?  It is hard, since that used to be a central point in my life, and isn’t anymore.  I don’t if it is the church, or just the whole thing. Being there makes me kind of irritated, and then i am irritated at myself for being irritated with church, and it is a whole vicious cycle, and I leave, really not getting anything out of the whole experience.  I feel as if my day would have been better served by me staying at home.  Things to ponder I guess.

Off to find that motivation….

Ok, I did it.  I had been thinking about it, but I did it.  I have signed up for NaBloPoMo.  Which means, I will be blogging everyday in the month of November.  I can’t promise they will all be great, but hopefully a few great ones will emerge.  Wish me luck, here we go!

Sing, sing a song

November 11, 2007 at 11:33 am (blogging)

My blogger buddy Brenda tagged me.  So, since I haven’t blogged for awhile, I thought I would get back into it. Here are the rules:

Here are the rules. (1) Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. (2) People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (3) At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. (4) Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So, for sake of easiness, I am going to do a theme.  and the theme for this meme will be music.

1. I know all the words to Don McLean’s “American Pie.”  all of them.  and that is a long song!

2.I also know all the words to pretty much every Dashboard Confessional song.

3.In college, every time I was heading home for break I would listen to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound.”  I love that song.

4.I really like that on Saturday nights, NPR plays jazz as I am on my way home from work.

5.I hate that Christmas music is being played everywhere already.  Three radio stations in the area are now all Christmas, all the time.  and at work…ugh, i really don’t like it.  can’t we wait until after Thanksgiving?  Please!

6.So, I am now out of random music things.  so, here are more random thoughts.  I recently cut my hair fairly short.  I like that it takes less time to do in the morning.

7.I am on a carmel apple cider kick right now.  yummy!

8.I have 3 new favorite shows.  Dirty Sexy Money, Women’s Murder Club, and Entourage.

Ok, so I need to tag 8 people, but I don’t really have many regular readers on my blog, so I am going to tag people on facebook.  So I tag Katie, Dave, Aubrey, Naomi, Samie, Adam, Rachel, and Kimi.

Write, rinse, repeat

August 23, 2007 at 10:09 pm (blogging)

I have not blogged with regularity for a really long time.  Part of this was because of life circumstance, part of it was writers block. and part of it was a huge sense of self-doubt.  Then today I had an epiphany.

I liked blogging because it gave me a chance to write.  and then i stopped doing something i liked, and therefore stopped doing something i could really improve on.  I need to blog more for me than for others to read.  if they want to read, well then that is fantastariffic.  and if you don’t, i am ok with that.

So here is to more regular blogging.  I can’t say it will all be good, but I am going to do my darnedest.  Suggestions are always welcome.

Also, I am in the process of building a new blog.  One for book reviews.  since i read an average of 2 books a week, i figure this would be a good place to share what I am reading as well as get great suggestions.  I like books.  So look for a link to that site soon!

Alright, i need to go put away my purchases that i got after work tonight.

Oh, but one quick work story.  I am standing today with the “board” (pretty much our cashier list, where they go, when their breaks are.)  This man looks at me and says: “you are a tall girl you know that?”

I say, “yes, i am aware.”(I am close to 5′ 10”)

“you must’ve played basketball.”

“nope, i am kind of athletically challenged, i am not very coordinated.”  (if you need an example, i can give you many!)

“well, that’s just a shame.”  he counters, and then walks away.

just a day in the life!
